Poem – “No Concentration”

No Concentration

You strive to stay mellow, stay chill
A will all-important, an impossible achievement
When a cacophony’s always storming your way
No concentration, no focus, no cerebral strength
An antithesis of thought, you can’t breathe
Your brothers are so afraid of silence, its phantoms,
That their cowardice might be the end of you

Poem – “Surface Wound”

Surface Wound

Slicing thinner than a cat’s claw
Into sensitive throes of pain
That mean less than they imply
Only a surface wound,
But one infested with parasites
Implacable, coiling where they fall
Never relenting to leave you alone
Amidst your own thoughts

Poem – “Alive”

Alive

Awake, a heart beating only in motion
Never alive without the ominous question
Will the blood still churn in the morning?
Will I succumb like those before me,
Weeping like children in front of an audience
That never tried to notice until hours burnt down
The shack of wills, so hasty and pointless, was felled
And they decided not to exist, only a motion

Poem – “Betrayer”

Betrayer

Flighty and indefinite,
You expect the souls of others
To be handed over automatically
On a whim, then you abandon
What little that they meant to you
Flaky and undisciplined,
You can change your mind
But you can’t reconstruct another
Not that you’d stay long enough
To amount to much more than betrayer

Poem – “A Nameless Brand of Heartache”

A Nameless Brand of Heartache

A nameless brand of heartache,
One too priceless, too excrutiating
To embody with one’s own love
It’s every sin, every redemption
Every virtue altogether in cacophony,
No harmony nor pleasure at all

Poem – “Anxious, Anxious”

Anxious, Anxious

Trying to entrance myself into believing
That it isn’t a major ordeal at all,
That there’s no needle-teeth lurking beneath
Everything I try to hold in reverence
And it’s not true that it means nothing at all
But it’s a pit of vipers under its skin

Anxious, anxious
I don’t know what’s lying
But I know you mean harm
Underneath your surface
Anxious, anxious
What it is, it never is
All a pit of snakes in waiting

Poem – “Tension of Wolves”

Tension of Wolves

Question relentlessly what they mean for you
Or risk stripping away your humanity,
First the surface patched with emotions
Then the tangible – the skin and muscle,
The bones that shield your heart and soul
And lastly any threads left of identity
You will be less than phantom if they get you,
Suspect eternal what they mean to do

Poem – “Closed Hearted”

Closed Hearted

Why do you always expect difference
You know I’ve been closed hearted
So long the doors have melded to one
There is no way to release what I’ve lost
I don’t know why you ask every day
When you know to change is impossible

Poem – “Emerald”

Emerald

I will always dream about you
Gilded, shining beyond my reach
A human embodiment of the moon
Eclipsing the sun and his joys
Infusing eyes with the emerald of envy

I can’t say you’re heroic
I can’t even say you mean well
So fearsome I can’t stop your image
A jewel set permanently in my dreams

Poem – “Antiromantic”

Antiromantic

Here we go again,
Severing fingers to pocket their rings
Throwing funerals for lost emotions
Pretending any more beauty is possible
When we are sure it has deceased

We were the killers, after all
Yet here we go again, feigning romantic
Like a love song written by bitter cowards
Or gratitude promised by a miser

Poem – “Animosity”

Animosity

Hatred is a rabid behemoth
A rough animal formed in loose blood
His footsteps staining the heart
Curling into tighter wires,
Sprouting flowers of barbs
Hatred will kill you slowly,
Cowardly slinking away
As his imprint overtakes you

Poem – “Caring Less”

Caring Less

The trying abyss
Is one with a garnet eye
Who knows your apathy inside
Does it strain the sinews not to care
As it holds the heart in a vicegrip
Draining the blood into the galley
To meet the sewer’s flow later
Tumultuous,
Impossibly unfeeling

Poem – “Darkmood”

Darkmood

When you wake under its weight
Even to breathe is an obstacle
Like tearing down a citadel
With the edge of your fingernail
Darkmood knows when it is unwelcome
For she must knock the loudest then
Shatter the ear as she shatters your dreams

Poem – “Golden Lotus”

Golden Lotus

The holy princess is the desert embodied
She is its jewel of water, braids of hair
Billowing like braids of sand skirting the dune,
Vibrant like the star in the moon’s eye
Golden pools of lotus in her dark palms
Her spells are keys to heaven lost in silence
The holy princess hears no human war
