Poem – “Heart in the Catacombs”

Heart in the Catacombs

Heart in the catacombs, in the valve
A facsimile of the orchard, necrotic
Digital memory of a lifetime, corrupted
Suspended in its nightmare, evolving
In the dark fog, in the core of a plastic apple
Heart in the catacombs, in the valve
In the wishing well of the blue-eyed devil

Poem – “No Concentration”

No Concentration

You strive to stay mellow, stay chill
A will all-important, an impossible achievement
When a cacophony’s always storming your way
No concentration, no focus, no cerebral strength
An antithesis of thought, you can’t breathe
Your brothers are so afraid of silence, its phantoms,
That their cowardice might be the end of you

“Sunshine Weeping Demon” Featured in RPB

Avant-garde magazine Radium Piano Band is back after a brief hiatus, and was kind enough to feature two new poems of mine – “Sunshine Weeping Demon” and “Rose and Thrombus”. These appear in my chapbooks MHz and Infinite Summer as well. A neat little fact about these two poems is that they were both inspired, in an abstract sense, by the creative work of two different horror-film directors – Dario Argento and Shinya Tsukamoto. It might show, it might not.
This issue is a very strong one, and I especially love the first poem, “The House of Blue Lights” by Lee Ballentine. Check it out! 🙂

Poem – “Surface Wound”

Surface Wound

Slicing thinner than a cat’s claw
Into sensitive throes of pain
That mean less than they imply
Only a surface wound,
But one infested with parasites
Implacable, coiling where they fall
Never relenting to leave you alone
Amidst your own thoughts

Poem – “Don’t Dream”

Don’t Dream

Better never to fear the abyssal and endless
Better to witness darkness than what it hides
Don’t dream, don’t sleep, don’t awaken
And you’ll never have to face seeing it
To speak in your head catches its attention,
To hear what it craves is to succumb to madness
Better never to fear the cloak that veils it

Poem – “Alive”

Alive

Awake, a heart beating only in motion
Never alive without the ominous question
Will the blood still churn in the morning?
Will I succumb like those before me,
Weeping like children in front of an audience
That never tried to notice until hours burnt down
The shack of wills, so hasty and pointless, was felled
And they decided not to exist, only a motion

Poem – “Upstairs”

Upstairs

Look alive, here they come creeping
Can you hear their parade of legs come skulking
Open your heart for the final hour of prayer
Here they come, better watch your little spine
Here they come stalking down the stairs with
Baskets full of heads, lullabies in reverse time
Look alive, look alive,
Playing dead in shallow corners
Here they come again tonight

Poem – “Blood on Your Hands”

Blood on Your Hands

The false sympathy of a fool
Appealing to those you plan to kill
The blood of women on your hands,
Their children, their fathers
I would shatter my vow of violence
To mirror your actions unto you
Never so powerless as I’ve been
Surrounded by the false piety of fools

Poem – “Flower Crown”

Flower Crown

The triad of sisters crowned with poppies,
Twirling into the hour of the equinox
The spring of mother water spider
Crawling up from the guts of the earth
To rain upon heaven from the inside out
Gentle dream of the aeon before judgment

Poem – “Somewhere Below”

Somewhere Below

An electric larvae that sleeps in our heart
Hear it gestate with the voice of a human
Somewhere below, deep in the cerebrum
Hear it aging, fed by the scarlet darkness
Infinite, but doesn’t know, never knows

Poem – “Betrayer”

Betrayer

Flighty and indefinite,
You expect the souls of others
To be handed over automatically
On a whim, then you abandon
What little that they meant to you
Flaky and undisciplined,
You can change your mind
But you can’t reconstruct another
Not that you’d stay long enough
To amount to much more than betrayer

Poem – “Break the Charm”

Break the Charm

Your voice striking yet sinister,
Like a violin under symphonic pressure
Break the charm with its power
Let it flower, and it will guard you
The cacophony of curses roiling in the air,
Their phantom will have no will over yours
